Abstract

This article addresses ageism, reporting the experiences of two healthcare and social assistance workers from Pontal do Araguaia/MT. The study, qualitative and descriptive, used interviews conducted in 2024 within the scope of the Education through Work Program (PET) - Health: Equity. The thematic analysis revealed three main categories: perception of aging in Brazil and its everyday impacts; experiences related to age in the workplace and among colleagues; and situations of age discrimination experienced by the interviewees. The reports show how age prejudice significantly affects both individuals and the professional environment, leading to exclusion and hindering work relationships. The study underscores the need to implement actions aimed at equity, capable of reducing inequalities still present in the world of work. In this way, it contributes to broadening the understanding of ageism and encouraging practices that promote respect and appreciation of age diversity.
